This 1986 upcycled children's book Junk Journal is a throwback to classic adventures of our favorite blonde! Handmade from a vintage children's book, it's filled with original storybook pages and curated vintage and new papers, perfect for journaling, memory keeping, prayers and/or gratitude points. Whether you're a collector, a creator or a fan of fabulous pink nostalgia, this journal is a stylish nod to '80s Barbie magic.

You will receive the journal pictured.

Last picture is example of what finished, filled and junked-out journals can look like.

PeriLou Mission

At PeriLou, we know how important journaling can be for mental and spiritual health. Our goal is to help others slow down and enjoy life a bit...to take some time to smell the roses and then encourage them to stick that rose into a journal!

Fill it up!

We consider our journals a blank slate, a starting point, a beginning to a new adventure! So, we encourage our customers to fill it up! Ribbon, stickers, quote cards, washi-tape, this morning's McDonalds bag...the possibilities are endless!  Make sure to check out our embellishment packs. You may need some glue...

Perfectly Imperfect

Imperfections add to the perfection of your journal. We don't make them perfect on purpose. If the book has puppy chew marks or drawings from it's original owner, we leave it as is because it adds to the charm of the one-of-a-kind journal! So relax, and embrace your creativity. And remember, if you make a page ugly with your additions, it's only one page; one ugly page does NOT equal an ugly journal. Besides, we love your journal, even if it is ugly!

A bit about the process

Each journal's starting point is a book and its pages (when available); we honor the original piece of art by keeping it [somewhat] together in some form.

We add a chipboard spine and three sections (each containing between 8-12 pages). Each section is made up of different papers: card stock, colorful paper, sheet music, dictionary pages, scrap paper, and whatever else we can find! Each section is then hand-sewn to the chipboard spine. We then reinforce the spine with scrapbook paper, fabric, old napkins, washi-tape or whatever else we think looks pretty!
